How is my first baby THREE years old already?!? I’ve been asking myself for over a week now. I know everyone says it, but it really does seems like yesterday that we found out that we were pregnant with him.
Our Nash is one of the sweetest, most snuggly little boys you will ever meet. However, he is also a very (I mean VERY) determined and strong-willed child 75% of the time. When people warn you about the terrible twos...listen to them. I feel like his started at 18 months and are still going strong.
During this past year, he figured out the role of big brother. It was definitely a rocky start at the beginning, but a couple of months in he really fell in love with his little sister. So much so that we constantly have to remind him to get his hands off of her. He constantly wants to wrestle her, pick her up, and knock her down (lovingly of course! Lol).
Under all of his energy is the most tender of hearts. He absolutely hates to disappoint and gets so upset when he does. Once the tears start, they just can’t stop.
He started preschool this past year and has thrived immensely. He loves his teachers so much and talks about them often.
Before starting school he was one of the healthiest babies and we probably took him to the doctors less than 5 times the first 2 years of his life. I am hoping that we are building up his immune system.
Nash has also started “playing” baseball. I use the term “playing” lightly. Just imagine ten, 2 ½ and 3 year olds fighting over who will “get the ball first” when someone hits it. Crying when another teammate gets it first. Chasing birds in the outfield. Hitting the ball only to run to first base and jump on the base until it squeaks. Yes...are you getting a picture in your mind of what our Saturday mornings look like? Oh yes...and more crying...more threatening and trying to convince him to get his act together while striving to keep it together in front of the other parents. Yep. That’s it. Let me know if you’d like to come to a game sometime.
His favorite things are cars, monster trucks, flat tires, and working in the garden. He loves them more than anything.
I’m convinced Nash is one of the pickiest eaters out there. His diet literally consists of pancakes, peanuts, milk, cookies and gummies. I am telling you, it’s awful. But we just went for his three year check-up and somehow he is in the 96% for weight and 97% for height.
To celebrate his THIRD birthday, we asked him what type of party he wanted. He is finally at the age where he has determined his likes and dislikes.I thought he would enjoy picking out his party “theme.” Little did I know, he picked out the most bizzare and specific thing I could ever think of. FLAT TIRES. “Mom, I want a flat tire birthday party!” “A what??!!” “I said, A FLAT TIRE BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!” This one had stumped me. Let’s just say that there is not a “flat tire” section at Party City. We did what we could and he seemed happy with the outcome. That’s all I could have hoped for.
Nathan and I are in awe every time we look at Nash. He is bigger and more mature than ever and growing into such a bright young man.
We love you buddy, and can’t believe you’re THREE.
Below are a couple HIGHLIGHTS from his THIRD year.
