Y’all...I have been looking forward to June 1st since the day I met with Shannon and Steve last fall. This couple knew exactly what they wanted for their big day. Like, I mean, EXACTLY. They had a plan for everything! We took engagement photos back in October at their wedding venue, this was the moment I instantly fell in love with Antebellum of New Kent. This place is everything southern, stately, and flat out breath-taking.
When their big day finally came, my expectations were once again blown out of the water. Everything, from the gorgeous eucalyptuses to the thoughtful and personal details, was one-hundred percent on point.
At the start of the day, I met Shannon in her bridal suite while Jordan Simpson was putting on her finishing touches of makeup. Shannon was literally glowing. Her calm demeanor and pure joy as she anticipated the day ahead was so evident. The couple wanted to save their “first look” for the ceremony, but they had a few minutes together beforehand while Steve was blind folded. They held hands and said a few heart-melting things to each other. Steve could not stop smiling. It was the most adorable sight.
The ceremony was on the back lawn of the Antebellum. All of their closest and most treasured friends and family surrounded them and watched as they made their love official. My favorite moment was when Steve left from the front and met his bride to walk her down the aisle.
After the ceremony, we snuck away with the new Mr. and Mrs. for some portrait time. Their love for one another is so genuine and made “picture-taking” so much fun for us. Steve looks at Shannon in a certain way that I just cannot explain. And Shannon seems to find a comfort in Steve that is so rare. They really are the perfect match.
Finally, the night ended with what I would say was the most entertaining reception that I’ve ever been a part of! Liz Daley was their DJ - and she absolutely hit it out of the park. There was a very personal vibe to their reception. It represented them and their friends and family so well.
Steve and Shannon’s first date was to the fire house where Steve works as a firefighter. So, it only made sense for their “getaway car” to be a fire truck, right?!. Talk about an epic way to exit your wedding! It was such an honor to call this beautiful couple my clients, and I can’t wait to see what their future brings.
