VMFA Mini Sessions

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts has beautiful outside grounds with cream colored buildings that provide a highly sought after backdrop for photo shoots. This is one of my favorite and most requested locations to take photos, so I had to make it happen for this month’s mini sessions.

It sure was warm and humid, but that didn’t put a damper on our day! During family sessions, I always try to make sure everyone is having fun, showing smiles, and feels comfortable. It brings me so much joy when I can get a genuine smile or laugh from someone who originally was nervous or thought they would be “awkward” in front of the camera!

Let’s be honest, family pictures are usually booked and scheduled by mom. Dad is usually just along for the ride, teenages would rather be sleeping, and toddler silliness is in full swing. This is why our mini sessions are 10 minutes (hence “mini session”). We keep it short and sweet and it’s over before the meltdowns even have a chance to happen. “That wasn’t so bad!” or “that was awesome!” is hands down my favorite comment from a Dad at the end of a session!
