The Best of 2020
2020 was one heck of a year wasn’t it? We shot 11 weddings, hundreds of portrait sessions, and hosted our very first workshop. Oh yeah, and all during that COVID thing…I am sharing my top 20 images from 2020!
#20 - Fruit Themed Flat Lay.
This image was taken at the Simply Styled Workshop by Sarahndipity Photography. I was honored to be a part of this educational experience, and flat lay will always stick out in my mind. The colors, vibrance, and placement is perfect!

#19 - The Massey Champagne Pop!
Hali and Chad had to reschedule their wedding more times than anyone would ever hope to. This picture celebrates their big day finally arriving! I love the expressions of the girls and the memories behind this photo.
#18 - Summertime Sunflowers
The Anthony wedding was a “meant to be” thing! Madison reached out in the off chance that I would be available for her wedding date. I previously had a wedding schedule on her date that got rescheduled for 2021 just weeks before their inquiry. It was so meant to be. The florals in this picture with the pop of navy in the tux make me so happy.
#17 - H is for Headshots and Heather!
Our business thrived this past spring, summer, and fall mainly because of headshot sessions. Heather in front of this dreamy teal door was one of the most recognizable advertising pictures I used for these sessions.
#16 - The Garrett’s
This past year was filled with babies and bellies (including mine! LOL) - Kaitlyn checked every box for her session. She had her hair and makeup done, a gorgeous bouquet, and a beautiful white, flowy dress. There was nothing else that could have made this session more dreamy. (besides her husband's nose bleed mid-session - oh the memories!)
#15 - Olivia deserves to celebrate!
Confetti is one of my new favorite things! It symbolizes celebration and a carefree feeling! Olivia exudes grace and kindness. She truly is a ball of sunshine. There were so many things that got squashed this past year, but there is always reason to celebrate and be grateful.
#13 - The Croxton Couple
This day will always stay close to my heart as it took place 3 days before our little guy was born, but this was the most beautiful bouquet that I think I have ever seen. I received more DMs about Ally’s amazingly toned arms than I think I could count. Seriously, people were beyond envious.

#12 - The Schreibers at Seven Springs
Holly and Jacob’s wedding was another “meant-to-be” wedding. (See blog post!) This was one of my favorite engagement sessions of all time. The laughs, giggles, and genuine love between these two was so evident. They had just traveled from Alabama and managed to still look picture perfect.
#11 - The Patterson’s
Brooke has probably been one of my biggest supporters. I can’t say enough about her and her encouragement during my photography journey. This picture was taken MOMENTS before the sun set behind the trees. The perfectly placed couple, veil, and sunlight makes this image make the top list!
#10 - Glazebrook Maternity
This was a special session for me. Jackie and her Husband, Adam, struggled with fertility and this baby boy was fervently prayed for. I took announcement pictures for this baby boy and got to capture the end of this journey with Jackie’s Maternity session. Jackie’s red dress with the beautiful Northfield Estate background is what my maternity session dreams are made of!
#9 - Maternity Milk Bath
I wasn’t kidding when I told you that 2020 was filled with babies! Courtney had a beautiful vision of a milk bath session before her baby girl arrived. I had yet to do one of these sessions, but I’ve always wanted to. It could not have gone better. I will always have a special place in my heart for this session.
#8 - Chelsea and Brandon at Bold Rock
This highly anticipated wedding at Bold Rock exceeded all of my expectations. Not only did the beauty of this wedding blow my mind, but this wedding was featured by River City Bride’s blog. Brandon and Chelsea are so special to me.
#7 - Steven, Shannon and Sophie
Steve and Shannon were a 2019 BP bride and groom. This year they welcomed a baby girl, Sophie, into their world. I was so honored to document this season of life. From their maternity all the way to their newborn session, where Shannon decorated Sophie’s nursery so perfectly.
#6 - Burchett Party of 5
This single picture will always hold such a special place in my heart - it actually made me sob like a baby. When I pulled this image up on my computer I lost it. I am in awe of The Lord’s favor in our lives. These are the greatest little blessings to us. Nash and LeeAnn welcomed their baby brother, William, with wide open arms.
#5 - The Simpsons
Meagan is another fellow photographer who had recently moved to North Carolina for her husband’s job. Cody is a United States Marine. Meagan simply wanted a session to celebrate their love and Cody’s new rank promotion. The backdrop of Richmond’s Capitol is perfect for Meagan’s red and Cody’s uniform. The military is so special to me and to be able to document any of our service men and women is always at the top of my list.
#4 - The All American Family
Porch Sessions made this business THRIVE in the midst of COVID. The McPeak family lives in our neighborhood and I can’t think of a better backdrop for porch pictures than their gorgeous home. This image was featured in our neighborhood magazine and made it to the top of my list of favorite porch images.
#3 - The Groom
Many times I feel like our grooms get overlooked because of the beauty of our brides, but this shot of Jayme is one of my all-time favorites. Not only is the color of his tux #goals but everything about this image makes me happy. I don’t enjoy shooting indoors often but when I get light like this...I am over the moon!
#2 - The Engagement
Alyssas’s sister reached out this past summer to have me take a picture of Jamal proposing to her at Maymont. The family is from Florida and made the trip up to be a part of the surprise. I had never photographed an engagement before but I can’t think of a better first one to do. This was my MOST LIKED instagram image of 2020.
#1 - 2020’s Top Image
Like I mentioned before, shooting indoors is one of my least favorite things. BUT when it is POURING on a wedding day, you don’t have a choice. When we are forced to use our creativity and go outside of our comfort zone, that is when the best things tend to happen. There are so many things about this image that I love. From the tux, to the veil, to the room - but my favorite thing was that it was 100% team work from Nathan and I. He perfectly placed Holly and Jacob in the chair and then I captured the image. Teamwork truly makes OUR dream work.
