Hiring a Professional Website Designer

When you start a business, the ideas immediately start flooding through your head. The very first thing I did was create a Facebook and Instagram business account. Everyone is on social media, so I just figured it was a good start...and it was. Then, I knew that I needed to “level up.” I needed a place for clients to land. A place for potential clients to look at my work, find out who I was, and look at exactly what I offer. I knew a pretty website when I saw one, but had NO idea where to begin.

Google: How to create a website?

The Wix website came up, it looked like I could do it easy enough so I said yes! I started creating it. I spent HOURS...DAYS...WEEKS...MONTHS, trying to fine tune everything and make it look “high end” and “pretty.” I could never achieve this...but it was as good as it was going to get.

Then I realized as business started rolling in and I was increasing my prices, that I needed a website that matched the quality of my work. I was fortunate enough to go to church with an incredible web designer. I shared my “vision” with Samantha, and the rest was history.

This was my first experience “outsourcing” something for my business, and aside from my camera this was one of the biggest investments I made.

My top 3 reasons for hiring a professional web designer:

  • The amount of time that I spent trying to DIY my own website was all consuming. The time alone was worth the investment in my mind.

  • Knowledge and capability. At this point in my business, I didn’t even have a MAC. I was working on a PC that was barely even meant for photo editing. That thing was bogged down and SO slow **see previous reason**. Samantha knew everything from linking, to SEO, and all the other things I don’t even know the words for. This is why she is the professional and I am not.

  • Vision vs delivery. I knew in my head what I wanted it to resemble but I didn’t fully know how to make it happen. Samantha was able to put my words into mock ups and deliver a beautiful product.

My experience working with Samantha:

  • Her business is first class. From my initial email, to correspondence, to before we started, during the process, and final delivery. Her work systems and work flows assured me that I was working with a legitimate web designer.

  • Because she is so good at what she does, she knew more about what I wanted than I did. She was able to verbalize what I was looking for and exactly what would serve my business well.

  • Personalized process. Samantha is a busy lady! However, I always felt like I was her only client. I felt like I had all of her attention and that was an extremely valuable experience.

I can’t recommend Lemon and the Sea enough!! She really has taken my business from the beginning to where it is now! The investment has paid for itself over and over again!

This was the first overhaul that Samantha did to my website. The before was my DIY website and the after was all of her genius design!
