LeeAnn's 4th Birthday!
May 2021
This was a pretty low key month. We were thankful to be settled in our new home, and tried not to put too much on our plates. We decided to get Busch Gardens season passes, and took the kids on their first trip. They LOVED it. LeeAnn especially is like her daddy and has ZERO fear. She wanted to ride on all the big rides (even though she was too short)! We made 3 trips during the month of May.
June 2021
LeeAnn finished her first year of preschool and really thrived. Everytime I picked her up, she would always be smiling and happy. She loves structure and activities, so school was the perfect thing for her! We spoke with her pediatrician during her 3 year old check up about some concerns we had about her having “staring” spells, and she suggested that we go to VCU neurology to get things looked at. She had her first appointment in June and then the neurologist suggested that we return in July for an EEG to look at her brain activity.
July 2021
July was the BUSIEST MONTH EVER!! We had so much on our plates. The month started with a trip to DISNEY WORLD! (See blog) - This was a true highlight for our family and especially LeeAnn. She’s at the perfect age for all the magic and princesses. She really was living a dream.
When we returned it was time for LeeAnn’s EEG. We went for a 3 hour appointment. Good news was that they did not see anything abnormal on the scan, but they wanted to be certain and admitted her for 24 hour observation. LeeAnn and I stayed overnight and had a “sleepover” in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at VCU. She absolutely LOVED the nurses waiting on her hand and foot. She got to order whatever food she wanted and have as much screen time as she wanted.
The following day we headed to Myrtle Beach for our annual family vacation. She LOVED the ocean and the sand but ultimately, fell in love with the swimming pool and could’ve spent all of her time splashing around.
August 2021
LeeAnn started full day preschool in the 3 year old class for the first time with her teacher, Ms. Amanda. LeeAnn absolutely adores her and still in love with school. She picked out her outfits with a perfectly matching bow everyday.
September 2021
LeeAnn is doing so well in school and still loves picking out special outfits daily. She started dance lessons for the first time. She picked out her pink ballet shoes and “shiny black” tap shoes (as she calls them - LOL).
October 2021
This is the month that she got completely obsessed with Trolls Word Tour. She totally took on the persona of Barb (aka...the bad troll) - She had the costume and everything! Unfortunately, the costume had to be taken away because she was pretending to be “bad” all the time - LOL! It was quite the ordeal. She dressed up as a few random things for Halloween...an alligator, Elsa, Mrs. Claus, and a pirate. It was quite the combo.
November 2021
Thankfully our sweet LeeAnn returned. We had an issue with one of her ear tubes (see previous annual blogs to see all of the back story there!) One of her ears became impacted and ended up bursting because of the pressure. We were sitting in Cracker Barrel and all of the fluid started running out of her ears and eyes! It was very bizarre. Thankfully some drops helped with that. She has really taken her brother’s excitement of Christmas and is so excited for next month!
December 2021
The most exciting time of the year was finally here! LeeAnn takes after her brother’s excitement for the holidays. We looked at Christmas lights, built gingerbread houses, and dressed up alongside Nash as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Our new family tradition is Kings Dominion’s Winterfest which we visited multiple times this year!
January 2022
Our year started off with a great snow! LeeAnn doesn’t have much tolerance for being cold or uncomfortable. She took a quick trip out with Nash and then returned inside to the fireplace.
February 2022
February is when “dressing up” became an obsession over at the Burchett House. LeeAnn dressed up as Ghost Spider every single day when we got home from school. We also had some fun spirit days at school. LeeAnn especially enjoyed dressing up as an old woman for the 100th day of school.
March 2022
This was a very eventful month for LeeAnn. She was having allergic reactions and constantly sick. We found out that she has new food and environmental allergies and officially said “goodbye” to peanut butter! She was a trooper with our second round of allergy testing. She’s now allergic to peanuts, rice, cherry, cats, dogs and ragweed. We are so thankful that nothing appears to be life threatening - just a new adjustment for her.
April 2022
The time has finally come for LeeAnn’s first haircut. The first thing that comes to mind for most people is LeeAnn’s hair. She has had fabulous hair since she was born. The curls and body are something to be envious of. However, once it started hanging in the toilet, we knew it was time for a cut. I was sad to see it go, but it instantly made her seem so grown up. I can’t believe our sweet girl is FOUR!
